JIM KNELSON: FRONT COVER PHOTOGRAPHER

Jim Knelson has always had an interest in nature, the outdoors, and

how things work (both mechanical and natural) so the combination of

camera equipment with my interests in nature and the outdoors

seemed, well, natural.

I spend much of my photographic time on the Saskatchewan and

Alberta prairie using a Sony Alpha 900, with lenses ranging from

Sony, Minolta, and a few from Sigma and Tamron. Whenever

possible, I use graduated filters, and a polarizing filter, to try and

obtain the best in camera copy of the scene. Other than being

outdoors, the next best part about photography is print making, using

an Epson printer and Epson inks to produce archival prints.

Some of the prairie spaces I have come to know well, allowing my

work to be published in magazines such as Prairies North, SkyNews,

Outdoor Photography Canada, and various tourism products.

UNDER THE LIVING SKIES:
Conversations . . .  Between You, Me, and the Fence Post

F I F T Y - T H R E E   S H O R T   S T O R I E S

Stories from the prairies: In his first collection of short stories, UNDER THE LIVING SKIES, Bert McNair adds a unique voice to the Canadian landscape. “We consider oursselves travelers, not tourists. We visit, we tell stories, we build memories, and say this is our life.” This is Bert’s story, a family story, the story we all have inside us.
